Keeping the Legend Alive At Hot Rod Shine, we believe good stories deserve to be shared — and few stories run deeper than our founder Steve Stanick’s. A Pro Street racer with a passion for speed, Steve has spent his life behind the wheel of the legendary Machak & Offermann ’71 Vega, a car first built in 1973 by chassis master Ralph “Tubby” Gallup. This Vega isn’t just metal and horsepower — it’s family history, racing heritage, and countless nights at the track.Together with his wife Theresa, son Josh, and son-in-law Mike, Steve has carried that tradition forward, competing in events like Hot Rod Drag Week 2017 and even bringing home the Grumpy Cup in 2016. For the Stanicks, racing has always been a family affair — and now, so is moonshine. Here in Alcoa, TN, our distillery and tasting room bring together the best of both worlds: authentic Appalachian shine and legendary hot rods on display. Every sip and every visit celebrates heritage, horsepower, and the spirit of competition.

In the heart of the Smoky Mountains, our showroom brings together everything that makes Tennessee shine. Surrounded by the beauty of the hills and the spirit of hard work, visitors can step inside to experience a place built for locals and those who love true mountain craftsmanship. The space gleams with polished metal and classic style—hot rods lined up like pieces of history, their curves and chrome catching the light beside shelves of handcrafted moonshine. Inside, you’ll find smooth, rich cream liqueurs and traditional shine in a range of bold, unforgettable flavors, each one made with care and the taste of the Smokys in every sip. The tasting bar welcomes you to sample our favorites, while the walls are lined with apparel, posters, hats, and keepsakes that carry the spirit home with you. It’s a gathering place where neighbors meet, stories are shared, and the pride of Tennessee runs deep through every bottle, every car, and every conversation.
